Tony Ehrenreich’s inciting violence – Pieter Groenewald

FF+ MP calls on President Zuma to repudiate COSATU WCape leader’s threat

Ehrenreich is inciting violence

Tony Ehrenreich, Western Cape‘s Cosatu Secretary General, is inciting violence with his statement that the ‘land war will be coming soon.’ With this he is also saying that the true motive behind the strikes by farm workers in the Western Cape has nothing to do with wages, but it is all about land (see Die Burger report).

Comments such as this, borders on hate speech and encourages violence. Responsible government demands that president Zuma and his ministers of land reform and agriculture should intervene and repudiate Ehrenreich,” Mr. Pieter Groenewald, the FF Plus’ parliamentary spokesperson on rural development and land reform says.

“There are many questions about the motif for the violent nature of these farm strikes in the Western Cape. Information indicates that strikers are mostly unemployed people and are not farm workers. It appears as if the instigators want to make it impossible for farmers to continue farming. In this way it is hoped that farmers will leave their farms and it can then be occupied by the unemployed. Ehrenreich has let the cat out of the bag and has to explain what he means with his comment,” Groenewald said.
